About Our Team
We are students from Linkou Kang Chiao. Our team has a unique grade distribution, with only one ninth-grade student while the rest are seventh graders. However, each of us has our own strengths, and through teamwork, we successfully completed this project. Throughout the process, everyone gained valuable experiences.

This time, we chose to introduce The Society of Wilderness as our topic. What impressed me the most during our research was the opportunity to personally experience one of the activities organized by the Society. During our interview with the chairman and secretary-general, they shared with us that the volunteers of the Society bring people into nature, allowing nature itself to move them, rather than relying on tour guides to inspire them. Because of this, we were all very excited about the activity.
At first, we found many activities interesting, such as beach cleanups and various habitat observations. In the end, we chose to participate in a unique event—a collaboration between the Society and Sketch Taipei for the first time. We walked through Jin-Hua Street and Qing-Tian Street, listening to the guide’s explanations about the natural beauty and history of the area. Besides listening to the guide’s introduction, our team members also tried urban sketching. Even though our drawings weren’t very good, it was still an unforgettable experience.
We are very glad to have learned about The Society of Wilderness through the Web Expo. It made us realize that there are organizations in Taiwan dedicated to helping people appreciate the beauty of nature. Environmental issues are becoming more and more serious, and many people are damaging ecosystems. However, if we can let people connect with nature and be moved by it, these environmental problems may be reduced. The Society’s environmental education efforts also encourage children to start learning about nature at a young age.
Additionally, we discovered that the Society’s activities not only allow participants to get close to nature but also teach them how to respect and protect the environment. For example, during the event, the guide reminded us to pay attention to every leaf and every stone beneath our feet because they are all part of the ecosystem. We also learned that environmental protection is not just about large-scale projects or government policies; it starts with small actions in our daily lives—such as reducing the use of single-use plastics, conserving water, and simply being more mindful of the plants and animals around us.
This experience made us deeply realize that nature is not far away—it is all around us. However, we may have overlooked its beauty in our daily lives. By participating in this activity, we not only gained a better understanding of Taiwan’s ecology but also rethought our relationship with the environment.

After researching The Society of Wilderness as our topic, I gained a deeper understanding of this association. The Society of Wilderness was established 29 years ago, with 12 offices across Taiwan, with every office having its own special features. The branches demonstrate the association’s emphasis on and involvement in ecological issues across the country. As a non-profit association, The Society of Wilderness is not only committed to protecting the natural environment leaving a clean environment for future generations, but also promoting the concept of natural ecological conservation. They believe that if habitats are protected, all species in the area will be protected instead of just one species. To accomplish their goal, they purchase or lease land to shield them from development. They focus on promoting biodiversity and collaborating with local communities to highlight that preserving nature matters for both current and future generations. They also give speeches and presentations on the natural ecosystem or hold activities such as exploring the woods or more. They focus on promoting the importance of a clean and natural ecosystem by holding these speeches and activities. Furthermore, they train natural ecological talents, not just to protect the environment, but also in order to observe humans’ relationship with nature, which is the biggest reason they train experts in natural ecological conservation. They also encourage people to volunteer, while keeping the experts at the same time. To sum up, The Society of Wilderness plays a major role in protecting the environment and promoting the importance of a natural and clean environment for both animals and humans, seeking a healthier and cleaner environment for future generations.

In the process of participating in this network expo activity, I learned a lot about Taiwan’s ecosystem and the importance of nature conservation, and also had a deeper understanding of the Wilderness Conservancy Society. I have come to understand that nature cannot be protected and improved by only a few people, and the issue of ecological protection needs to be faced by everyone, even if it is just a light turned off and a grain of garbage picked up, as long as everyone is willing, it can bring changes to the wilderness. It’s a pleasure to be part of this event and hopefully let more people know about the importance of preserving wilderness.

This time, my classmates and I visited the Wilderness Conservation Society, an organization dedicated to protecting the natural environment and wildlife. This visit taught us a lot about nature and made us more aware of the importance of environmental protection.
As soon as we arrived at the association, the staff greeted us warmly and immediately took us to the meeting room for a visit. They introduced us to the history of the association, including the background of its establishment, its development process and important environmental achievements. They shared how the association has protected wildlife and the natural environment through various conservation actions in the past, and explained future environmental protection goals. We listened with great interest and gained a deeper understanding of the efforts and contributions of this organization.
This is our second time to the association, and this time they took us to experience a painting activity. Our theme is “The integration of architecture and nature”. After observing the association’s architecture, everyone tries to describe its relationship with the surrounding environment. Some students drew plants growing on the green roof, while others drew birds and insects flying around the building. The staff guided us on how to use colors and lines, and explained how these environmentally friendly buildings can coexist with nature. We marveled at the joy of painting and also gained a deeper understanding of the connection between architecture and environmental protection.
Finally, I silently wrote down my commitment to environmental protection in my heart, such as using less plastic bags, saving water, paying more attention to the natural ecology, etc. We all hope that through these small changes we can make the planet a better place.
This visit was very rewarding for me. Not only did I learn a lot about environmental protection, but I also cherished our natural environment more. I hope I’ll have more opportunities to participate in such activities in the future and do my part to protect the earth!

This time, participating in the Internet Expo has taught me a lot about the importance of nature and environmental protection. I discovered that the mountains, forests, rivers, animals and plants around us all need human protection, because human development and pollution are destroying many precious natural environments.
During the activity, the tour guide took us into nature and introduced many animals and plants that we usually don’t notice. For example, some seem to ignore the concept of diversity, which means that nature needs a variety of different organisms to help each other in order to maintain balance. The tiny insects with eyes are actually a very important part of the ecosystem. Without them, many animals and plants cannot survive. I also learned biology
What impressed me most was the interview with the chairman of the Wilderness Society. He shared his experience in environmental protection, which made me realize that although this work is hard, it is very meaningful. He said that wilderness is disappearing faster than we imagined, and if no quick action is taken, many beautiful natural landscapes and precious animals will disappear forever. He also mentioned that environmental protection is not something that only adults can do. Everyone can start making changes in their daily lives, such as reducing plastic waste, protecting animals and plants, or even just sharing environmental protection concepts with people around them, which can make the world a better place. I was deeply inspired by these words and started thinking about what I could do for the environment.
I am very moved by the philosophy of the Wilderness Conservancy. They hope that everyone can cherish nature and take action to protect it. I learned a lot of simple but important ways to protect the environment, such as taking away trash, reducing the use of disposable plastic products, and caring for animals and plants. These small actions, when accumulated, can make the environment better.
This activity made me deeply realize that nature is not something that can be taken for granted, but something that we need to protect together. I hope to participate in more environmental protection activities in the future and work with more people.
